GLOBAL
TEMPERA: URBAN WORLD MUSIC
Global
Tempera was performed two times last weekend.
First at the opening of the festival by:Larm
in Tromsø on Friday, and the next day at Rockefeller's
opening of their 15th anniversary in Oslo.
Sadly Sainkho from Tuva wasn't able to perform
at Rockefeller, but Anneli, Nils
Petter Molvær, Bill Laswell, Dhafer
Youssef, Eivind Aarseth, Rune Andersen
and Raymond C. Pellicer made an incredible
performance in Oslo.
Musicians from four parts of the world was gathered
in Tromsø for one short week to complete Global
Tempera. With this in mind the show seemed even
more impressive, even if the music in itself was close
to perfect.
Global Tempera was truly world music, urban
world music. From heavy dub and slow jazz to noisy
psychedelia it made a diverse and unique feeling.
Nordlys,
a newspaper in Tromsø, described Global Tempera
as a musical sensation! And Puls.no
praised Anneli's voice with words like exciting
and unique. Dagbladet
described the sound as "Heavy groovy rythms and
rythmic figures was followed by vocalacrobatics, which
seemed hypnotic."
NRK's
reporter seemed to be the only one dissapointed after
the show in Tromsø. He thought it became boring, even
if he praised the musicians individual performances:
"Specially Anneli Drecker, Nils Petter Molvær and
Dhaffer Youssef."
