Grace
is ment to be a hopeful celebration to the future's music
and at the same time a "thank you" to the music
that's already been written and produced. The music appears
as a melting pot of musical styles like jazz, pop, electronica
and world music.
Grace
was first performed at the opening of Vossa Jazz, Norway,
in april 2000, and has later been performed at Balejazz
2001, Balestrand, Norway. Now Hamburg and Germany has the
chance to take part in this exciting and beautiful piece
of music where Ketil Bjørnstad collaborates with
Anneli Drecker (vocals), Arild Andersen (bass), Jan Bang
(sound sculpturing), Bendik Hofseth (sax and vocals) and
Eivind Aarset (guitar).
The
lyrics are based on the poetry of the founder of the School
of Methaphysics in English Poetry, John Donne (1572-1631),
known for a.o. his love poems, "Holy Sonnets"
and preaches. The lyrics are mostly about the eternal topics
- life, death and, not least, love.
Tickets
costs 26.51 € (51.85 DM), and can be bought at Kartenhaus.de
(direct link).
A
live recording of Grace from Vossa Jazz 2000 is available
on CD (Check the discography).
