TURN
THE LIGHTS DOWN - AND LIFELINES ON
a-ha's
new album "Lifelines" will be out tomorrow. And
the album is packed with hits, both slow love songs and
up tempo disco tracks. So get ready for a new a-ha
success this year. Anneli contributes on "Turn The
Lights Down" and "Lifelines". We have listened
carefully to both.

"What
do you see, what do you know? / One sign; what do we do? /
Just follow your lifeline through / What if it hurts, what
then? / One sign, what do you say? / Don't throw your lifelines
away" LIFELINES
The
slow and delicate "Lifelines" opens the album.
And the choirs get stuck and you really can't get it out
of your head. Anneli, Morten and Magne are all singing the
choirs and their voices is mixed very close to each other,
but Anneli is now and then mixed on top of the male vocals,
and the result is very tasty. This will probably be the
next single from the album.
"I
just want to sleep by your side / it makes me feel so alive
/ I just want to sleep for awhile" TURN THE LIGHTS
DOWN
The
duet "Turn The Lights Down" is a classic love
song, full of passion and yearning. It's lovely but not
as catchy as "I Wish I Cared" which Morten and
Anneli sung beautifully together on the last a-ha tour.
But there are no doubt their voices fits perfectly together
on duets like this.

Dagbladet
was one of the first newspapers to print a review of the
album, and Håkon Moslet writes that the ballad is
irresistible and "only the slightly defensive production
can prevent it from becoming a huge hit".
Both
tracks are produced by Martin Landquist (also known as Nåid)
and Stephen Hague. "Lifelines" is written by Magne
Furuhomen, and "Turn The Lights Down" is written
by Magne Furuholmen and Morten Harket.
