DOROTHY'S
VICTORY CONTINUES
Is
there time to promote "Dorothy's Victory" now
when Anneli is busy with a-ha? And how did the "You
Rock My World" remix competition turn out? We asked
Bel Canto's manager Eivind Brydøy for an update.

- We're very
pleased with the result of the remix competition. We received
so many good entries that we ended up with four winners instead
of three, says Eivind Brydøy.
The four winners
were presented at the Z-Chart on Norwegian ZTV in late May,
and the best entries also got airplay on the radiostation
NRJ. Strangely it was only guys among the four winners.
- That's right.
It seems only boys are interested in mixing, sadly we didn't
receive one single remix made by a girl.
Most likely one
of the remixes will be included as a b-side on a forthcoming
Bel Canto single as well. But when a new single is expected
is impossible to say. Why doesn't the record companies release
any good singles anymore?
- Well, that's a
hard one. But the companies don't have the same trust in
singles, and people don't seem to be very interested. The
sales are going down. But the 2-track single, which also
cost less, makes a positive turn in the market. And it's
also a very young audience that buy singles nowadays. The
companies earn so little on each sold single, so they consider
singles only as promotion for the album sales.
Now when Anneli
is touring with a-ha, will there be time for more work with
Dorothy's Victory?
- We have some plans
for this fall. Bel Canto will perform at Sommeråpent
(TV Show at NRK), but the date is not confirmed yet. There
is also a TV-program about Anneli coming up in August, and
after that we'll evaluate what could be a proper single
release.
The album
has sold 20.000 copies in Norway so far, and the album will
most likely get distribution in France, Germany and Mexico
soon.
