Anneli is marked in green, and the moderators, Danny and Thomas, is marked in yellow.

THOMAS OLSEN & DANNY MAACK

Danny Here we are. Welcome everybody. Thomas and Danny like to welcome Anneli in the chat ...

Mandy: Hello Anneli! :o)

anneli: thanx, gee!

inmono: hi Anneli :oD

Mandy: Yeay!!! *fanfare*

dorothea: Hello Anneli!!!! ;o)

dreamer: welcome anneli! sunny regards from sitzerland to you

sensoria: good evening anneli

Katja: God eve Anneli!

Mandy: Greetings from the UK

Jojo: Hi from Manchester Anneli!!

Mandy: Hope you are keeping well

Karla: Hei from Hamburg

martin: and from sweden too...!

pfox: hi from Poland

Cliff: hilsen fra Washington DC

Andreas: my location Frankfurt/Germany

Petra: How is the weather there? Have you enjoyed the sun during the day?

anneli: have been inside programming a new song all day...

Petra: Oh. Sounds like work! ;o)

anneli: fun work :o)

Mandy: how is the song going?

anneli: It is fast, trashy, rocjy... crazy, fun..

Petra: That´s good to hear! :o)

Mandy: sounds exciting

martin: sounds like a mix of Glassmaker and Freelunch..?

Jojo: Any idea when it will be released??

Petra: Do you think you will ever tour in Europe?

Mandy: I hope so....only saw you sing solo at Vallhall

Mandy: you were great....went out and bought your solo cd the next day

anneli: I hope so. we have before. but not me solo. only liverpool...

Mandy: liverpool?

Jojo: Liverpool????

anneli: with Röyksopp as my backing band four years ago...

Mandy: ahhh right

Jojo: ah!!

anneli: before they got famous, at the caven

Jojo: they've done alright for themselvs haven't they?..bless...lol

anneli: i will tour with them this summer, Torbjørn phoned me yesterday and asked

inmono: Royksopp is one great band for sure! I'm glad they released Spark as a single - best track on their album! ;o)

anneli: i sung it at home on my dictaphone, under the kitchenfan and I had a flue

Mandy: awww did you? :o)

dorothea: I hope you will maybe tour one day solo!

anneli: yes, that would be brill but right now i do not have time, have to make a new album first

Karla: Where will you be with Röyksopp?

Mandy: Will you be travelling to the UK with them?

anneli: i do not know for sur! have to plan my summerholidays a.s.o. but i will try the most...

Karla: I'd love to see you again in Germany. Only saw you with Grace in Hamburg. But not Bel Canto

anneli: bel canto has played many times in germany

tbro: What is your next project, Anneli? A solo album, or a Bel Canto album?

anneli: solo

Andreas: do you programming the new song with your apple and reason2 ?

anneli: reason yes, and cubase. i hate the fact that they don´t sync!!!

Mandy: cubase....wow...brings back memories...used that in University

anneli: i will switch to logic. worked with protools before

Andreas: I read an interview in a german mac magzine about that

pfox: Is any chance to hear your captiving voice from a stage in Poland someday ?

anneli: i will play in poland with ketil bjørnsta late autumn. thomas will let you know the live-dates of Röksopp etc. when i have made my schedule

anneli: sorry about the mis-spellings...it is the tierre obletz in me taking over or tooo much cofeee

Mandy: Do you plan to sing on more a-ha tracks? You were great on the last tour :o)

anneli: i am not sure what will happen with a-ha. don´t think they will tour this year. paul is releasing savoy and mortn is working on some solo-stuff, magne is working with his art....

Petra: Arent´t you afraid that the cooperation with a-ha could influence your career in a negative way? That people maybe reduce you on the background singer of a-ha? I´m just wondering how you feel about that...

Jojo: we haven't 'reduced' you...have to say this..but I think many A-ha fans see you as the 4th member, you have revitalised the band for sure :oD

Mandy: Personally, I saw the solo performance at Vallhall....and that interested me enough to get the cd....and thought it was great that you were getting your face so well known with a-ha....that made me look into Bel Canto's work too.

Karla: But Anneli has won some new fans through a-ha. Me for example...

Mandy: and me!

anneli: i love working with a-ha but it is not up to me to decide what plans they have in the future and now i am concentrating on other things

tbro: What did you learn from your work with a-ha? Would you ask Morten to sing with you on a solo album or with Bel Canto to return the favor?

anneli: it is hard to say with morten. but i would like to have guest-singers on my solo.album, yes!!! maybe female singers.

sensoria: Aha and Anneli is a great alchemy...

anneli: thanx! we still hang out some times.

Karla: Same with me. And I think you (and Nils of course) are a great songwirter!

dorothea: What does it feel like to sing in the background for a-ha? You have your own band and you are quite successful as a solo artist... Doesn't it feel strange?

anneli: strange, no.... it is more a challenge, an experience for life, something i can tell my grandchildren abut.. this sort of thing....

tbro: Your voice with Morten's is a wonderful combination. Like the harmonies of Agnetha and Frida in Abba, if I may say so...

Jojo: so the A-ha collaboration has given your solo career promotion..got to be a good thing :oD

sensoria: I think that anneli don't need A ha to a career promotion...

tbro: Who would you like to work with on that solo album? Do you have most of the songs ready for it?

anneli: i have up to 40 songs, not all of them ready.. tooo many songs...

dreamer: Anneli, you play together with a lot of musican. I find this really intressting! How is this for you, has this some input for your (for new songs as example?)

inmono: I'd love to hear you do a duet with Anne Marie Almedal from Velvet Belly! Your voices would sound great together :o)

Cliff: I'd love to hear a duet with Simone from D'Sound :-)

anneli: I need to get me a cup of coffee . one sec...

Petra: With milk and sugar or pure? I recommand with milk, anneli! *yummie*

anneli: i was thinking of the two of them!!

Mandy: where do you get your inspiration from when writing songs?

anneli: from my computer, sampling beats, loaing beats and making basslines or from being in the shower or just out walking. it is a habbit. can not change it.

Mandy: fantastic

dorothea: How would you designate the kind of music you make? I would say it is very experimental, not really mainstream...

anneli: do you mean bel canto?

dorothea: for example yes!

anneli: this last one and a half years i have made all kinds of music, that´s why it is hard to choose wether i should go for pop or more experimental...

dorothea: but I think your solo is very experimentally and freshly too ;o)

anneli: what can i say, it is some jazzy house tunes, some more native and aggro, some innocent fluffy ones, some straight pop...

anneli: thanx, i can have thomas put some of the tracks out and maybe you all could say what you mean?

inmono: that would be awesome!

Karla: That'd be great!

tbro: That would be excellent to hear! I hope you will go experimental. With plenty of cool mixes!

Mandy: yeah!

ysabella: Yes please!

dreamer: Anneli, I think you should not choice between pop or experimental or something else. The mix, is for me the "typical anneli" song :-)

Jojo: Anneli..I have to go now to put my kids to bed..but its been great to 'meet' you..good luck with the new album, I'll keep a look out for it..Goodnight!!!!

anneli: good night jojo!!

Karla: Are you performing The Nest with Björnstad?

anneli: we haven´t rehearsed on the nest song yet, but we will have two gigs this summer so i guess we will perform some of those songs then...

Petra: Which music do you listen to, anneli?

anneli: wow, rythm & sound reggae, daniel lanois, adrian sherwood, radiohead (have to buy the new one..), johnny cash...

Thomas: Two exerpts of new demo tracks is available on the same page as the new videos, what did everyone think of them?

ysabella: The exerpts just made me want to hear more, really.

inmono: ditto ysabella ;o)

Petra: Quite a mix of different stuff, cool. :)

anneli: hmmm... i cannot have longer bits... i am afraid someone might steal the whole song before it is even out, you see?

Petra: Yes, that´s true...

inmono: understandable..

ysabella: Well, you should always leave the audience wanting more, anyway. ;^)

tbro: Did you hear Roni Size's mix of Sparks yet? It's a breakneck breakbeat edit. Really cool!

anneli: no, i didn´t!! i will ask torbjørn to send me the mixes. cannot wait to hear them!

martin: how about making a live-DVD of Bel Canto, or a videocollection?

martin: well, couldn't you release some kind of fans-only-cd with the half-finished songs, I mean, I would like to hear even if it's not "market-perfect-made"!e

Mandy: great idea

inmono: indeed!

tbro: Or perhaps a fan-ep with old live tracks? :-D

anneli: we will try to do this one time. everybody is doing this nowadays...

cameron: Hello to All. I hope this message find everyone well. Anneli coule you please give any insight into the song "Paradise"?

anneli: paradise is a song about a lost girl named mary...

inmono: Paradise is such a beautiful and haunting song. Definitely one of my faves!

Danny: I agree ....

anneli: it all stared with nilses guitar-riff. he played it to me over the phone and i bicycled across town with the melody in my head and then we recorded it at night

Cliff: any plans to come to the U.S.?

anneli: hm.... bel canto will distribut dorothy in the us under the name "wide awake dreaming" (the title)If the sales go well, i expect they will invite us over..

tbro: You did sing When The Music's High with Simone, didn't you? Will we get to hear any older songs like that and Bittersweet Paradise that you played live as bonus tracks on singles or something? I assume you won't record them since you have 40 new songs?

Read about the unreleased songs in these concert reviews:

17/05/00: Trondheim
20/05/00: Oslo
19/07/00: Tjøme

29/08/01: Sandvika

anneli: How do you know this song+ i haven´t finished it yet. something is lacking in the choruses but I will try to include this song, since Torbjørn did some great programming on it

tbro: I heard you play it live in Oslo, Tjøme and Drammen...

Thomas: You did also play a "break beat" version of All I Know live.....

anneli: all the wrong spellings... it is fantastic!

anneli: did we?? there is a german trance techno mix of it too, that never got released....

tbro: Please!!! Release!!! :-)

tbro: Perhaps here on this site?

anneli: okey, i will put a trumpet-solo in the choruses...

anneli: has anyone heard "Loveless"?

tbro: Loveless is beautiful!

Thomas: Loveless and Bittersweet Paradise would be very good EP-material ;-)

anneli: do you think I should include this track aswell?

anneli: hello zoe!

zoe: hello~~@.@

anneli: where are you from?

zoe: hong kong~

Petra: Hong Kong?!?

anneli: what time is it there now?!

zoe: 2:57am~@.@

anneli: it is late for you zoe, do you have any questions you might want to ask before you tug in?

zoe: well.......not really late for me~

dorothea: Compliment for the video to "Rock My World To Night" I have seen it here for the first time... ;o)

anneli: Do you like the video? Gooood!

Petra: Anneli, one thing that really interests me (sorry for coming back onto a-ha again...): What does it feel like to travel with a band that is as famous as a-ha on the international music market? Is it impessing or shocking to take a look into that huge popstar life, fans all around and all that?

anneli: Yes Petra, it is like a movie. I see everything from the outside and I quite enjoy it too because i am not the one in the spot-lights all the time so I can relax.... but sometimes I feel a bit sorry for the guys and all the hassel and work but not tooooo sorry! Afterall, they are making money on this!

Petra: Yes, you are right, but still I can imagine that it is an impressive experience!

anneli: both sound familiar, yes, of course..

Petra: Thanks for answering, anneli. :o)

anneli: like i said, something to tell your grandchildren about...

Petra: Yes, right! :o)

Thomas: When I made an interview with you right after the breaking news of you going on tour with a.ha the first time I asked you what your favourite a-ha song was... but you couldnt remember any of them, hehe. So I'll ask again, what's your favourite a-ha track in 2003? ;-)

The interview is still available here. It's a "real audio" interview, so you need Real Player to listen to Anneli's answers.

anneli: he, he, he to you too :o) hunting high and low, stay on these roads , the swing of things... summer moved on...

Petra: So many favourites! :o)

anneli: wow, I miss doing concerts with them now!

spajo: it's strange for me to hear so much about aha when i have never been able to enjoy them the same as anneli and bel canto...

Petra: Isn´t it kind of hard to have duets with Morten Harket on stage? He´s forgetting his lyrics so often... ;o)

Cliff: I'd forget the lyrics too if I was onstage with Anneli ;-)

Karla: Norway seems to be a small country where every artists knows each other. Is there any artist you have not spoken to yet and would like to work with?

anneli: hello karla, tricky question, that one. turbonegro? Beady Belle, Sidsel Endresen.. Morten Abel...Equicez

anneli: And i would love to work with Sondre Brattland ANd Kurt from Idol...

tbro: Sondre and Anneli would kick some serious butt! In elvish?

anneli: in norwegian, i guess.. with lots of reverb, he, he

Thomas: One of my absolute favourite songs is "Little Fuglen" with Åsne Valland Nordli and Sondre Brattland, so if you'll work with him that would be very very interesting.

anneli: Åsne is wicked good!

Thomas: Back to the very good news of Dorothy's Victory beeing released in the US. Is this 100% confirmed?

anneli: Yes, Nils told me yesterday on the phone. All in all I had many good news yesterday...

dorothea: you used so many different languages in your songs, englisch, german (I don't know what kind I#M best'n Beihs is ;o)...

anneli: Hello Dorothea! i sing in many languages because it seems natural in some cases and it gives the songs a new blend. I like it... do you use it to express something... or is it only fun?

martin: Have you heard the song of Chandeen, "Firewalker", the guitar is almost like Paradise... (speaking of stealing music...)

anneli: I will check this out... or maybe not... Music is like air, it is for everybody, I guess

anneli: everyone who works with music, is a good thief, he, he

dreamer: Is it difficult to finish a song for you? I think, I must be hard to find the right point, when the song is finish, before the songs come in a "wrong" way with to much work

anneli: dreamer, Yes, it is, bur the recording budget always put a limit to this and it is good to give oneself "deadlines". It is as hard as finishing a painting, i guess...

Karla: What about singing in Norwegian? You have almost never done that...

anneli: singing in norwegian, perhaps but i don´t think i could write the lyrics, though... I used to write poems when i was younger but i blush when i read them noe .o)

syren: do u think lyrics is so important? Will u try to release an whole album with no lyrics at all?

Petra: You just said "Music is like air". That impresses me. What does music mean to you?

anneli: Music meas allemannseie to me, something we all own and are obliged to share. if I possess a song, it is my instinct and perhaps my duty to share this wit everybody!

Petra: But what is allemannseie? (???)

Karla: @Petra: Jedermannsrecht

anneli: everyman´s owning...

Petra: YES, that is cool. Really, music is so undescribable... I couldn´t live without it! :o)

anneli: in africa musicians don´t get payed for playing music becausethsi is a natural thing, it is like throwing garbage or cleaning.. but that is Africa, folks!

tbro: Did you have many unfinished songs from the sessions for Dorothy's Victory?

anneli: oh, yes, we did! four or five or more...

Thomas: Will some of the leftovers for DV be included on the US release?

anneli: No, they won`t . But new cover and new title and perhaps new order...

tbro: Did you not finish those songs because of the deadline, or because you prefered those that you released?

We met Anneli and Nils in the studio while mixing Dorothy's Victory. Check out the article here.

anneli: we had a deadline. Nils and me definately need deadlines but we worked day and night around for the last two weeks..

Andreas: do you appear on the new savoy album? like the last one

anneli: no, I don´t but i will ask Lauren to sing on mine, like she did las time. Her voice is wicked!

dorothea: Yes! trinitron is a very good song ;o)

[Bluesky enters]

anneli: Bluesky? I have a song called that!!

Danny: Blue is a state of mind, btw ...

anneli: I have a song going like this ; How does it feel to live a life surreal, in the blue sky, behind barbed wires...

bluesky: i got it from a-ha s first release

anneli: oh!!! That song is absolutely one of my faves! We never rehersed this one, I wonder why not...

spajo: is tundra written with any one in mind?

anneli: when I was in Kautokeino, the lad of the sami people , I saw some wicked snow-scooter riding and I got this song to my head...

Thomas: Why did you record the title track from Tundra on both sami and spanish?

anneli: On sami because it is about and for thesami people and my sami friends, in spanish because people in Mexico and the south of America are so occupied with the sami people and because I wanted to show them the simularity, especially in Lawran`s joik. It is funny, but in the spanish version, it sounds like an indian singing this, don´t you think? So, I was prooven right, I guess!

inmono: like Bombay in English and Spanish!? And Mornixuur in English and norwegian..

tbro: Which is your favorite un-released bel canto song? Tierre Obletz?

Karla: Now please - someone explain Tierre Obletz for me! It has been mentioned for at least three times until now!

Karla: ;-)

Thomas: There is for sure enough material for a second bonus disc with rarities....

anneli: Tierre Obletz is a song we never released but sometimes play live.

tbro: I remember Frode Alnes at P3 when you played the whole 20 minutes of Tierre Obletz. He said it absolutely had to be released. I agree with him. :-)

Karla: Where can I listen to Tierre Obletz. I am curious now! ;-9

anneli: hello tbro. I guess it would be the next one we make, until it is released, he, he. It is always the last song which is thebest.

Thomas: Everyone keeps asking for or about Tier Obletz, wouldnt it be a good idea to release it?

anneli: Okey, we will see what we can do about Tierre Obletz guys!

Thomas: thanks Anneli :-D

tbro: Yay!! You're the best!

martin: About old material: I would like to have Beyond the Within on cd too...! Please!:)

tbro: Would you consider "Tree" as a single with a nice set of remixes? A song like that might be a surprise hit...

tbro: Have you considered recording a trance song? A club anthem...

tbro: You Rock My World Tonight sounds like a perfect track for American Radio. Single?

Thomas: wow tbro!

tbro: Hehe, Danny sends out all my old questions at once! :-D

Danny: Sorry, I switched with my buttons, sorry tbro!!

tbro: Wow, Danny! :-) You're doing a fine job!

Thomas: Anneli; Pick the best one ;-)

anneli: Gosh, what shall I answer now? Tree.. it goes in 5/8 rythm... tricky one! We will possibly make a re-mix album oneda. Just want to get a bit more famous first so that we can afford to ask the really hot and good remixers, you see?

anneli: I will writw some lyrics about Danny switching buttons, he, he

Danny: Haa ..... I had too much snus!

anneli: Do you also snus? but can you find this in Germany or are you in Oslo? If so, let´s go for a drink after this chat!

Danny: No, I tried once in hotel bar in Lillehammer.

Danny: btw. snus is tobacco without smoke.

anneli: Okey Danny, I remember, I remember, he, he. You almost fell over, poor you!

tbro: Couldn't you trade with the good mixers? You appear on one of their songs in return for their mix?

anneli: good idea!

anneli: tbro and all of you. please give me a list of whom we should contact..

pfox: I have heard that Tromso is a "musik-basin of a north Europe", is it truth ?

anneli: oh yes! indeed! but far from all of us live there now...

anneli: and, by the way, i was "blubba" in the lobby before .o)

Petra: You were blubba on the lobby????

dorothea: ;o))))))))

Petra: Cool! *looooooool*

anneli: Yes!!!!

Petra: :o))))))))))))))))))))))

martin: remember blubbas question: "but can she really sing??"

anneli: Yes, can she??? :o)

martin: sure "she" can!!!:)

anneli: Sorry, if you find this crul but I had a big laugh myself :o)

Petra: I can imagine, haha! ;o)

syren: do u wish to work with Liz Fraser?

anneli: I wish to work with Liz fraser as much as I wish to hang out with Jeff Buckley, Billy McKenzie and River Phoenix in the garden pf Eden. That is a yes!

bluesky: does bel canto ever tour the uk ?

Dennis: Anneli, will you ever tour the US anytime soon?

Dennis: Anneli, first of all it is an honor to be able to communicate with you in this way and second I have some questions pertaining to touring in the states...

anneli: touring, touring... whenever, wherever. Let´s hope all for the best in the future!

spajo: will you come to nashville someday and play at the corner coffeehouse without warning

anneli: no warning, i promise!

Thomas: Ok, folks, time is running out....

anneli: I have three minutes left

dreamer: anneli, I was at the phone with my best friend. She yould not go to the internet at the moment, but I should give you a big hug from Ilaria :-)

anneli: Give her a big hug back and let´s do this another tme again, soon, nicht war?

Karla: Ha det godt!

pfox: Do not stop singing !!!

anneli: I sing, threfore I am, he, he!

dorothea: TUSEN, TUSEN TAKK ANNELI!

Katja: Ha det fint Anneli

ysabella: Thanks Anneli! Hope to see you in Seattle some day.
