RÖYKSOPP'S
HOMECOMING
It's over one year
since Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge
played in Norway last time, but on Saturday
Röyksopp was the headliner at the Quart
Festival in Kristiansand, and had the honour
to be the last band playing this years festival.
Anneli sang three songs and the newspapers praised
her contribution to the electronic duo's live
format.
THOMAS
OLSEN
Anneli has joined this
summers Röyksopp tour, and will sing some
songs on most of the gigs, except for some concerts
in France and Japan. See the live section for
dates and places where Anneli will join the
band on stage.
In front of Röyksopp's
gig, bands like Immortal, Ralph Myerz &
The Jack Herren Band, David Holmes, Beth Gibbons,
St. Thomas, Ephemera, Kings Of Leon and Red
Harvest had made the crowd in Kristiansand ready
for what VG called "the homecoming sons".
The audience counted over 10.000 at Idrettsplassen
where all the biggest bands play. This is probably
also the first time Quart let's a "club
act" perform at this venue during the festival.
Anneli did the vocals
on three songs including Röyksopp's current
single "Sparks" plus a totally new
song that hasn't got a title yet. She did also
the vocals on Röyksopp's remix of Coldplay's
"Clocks"!
Read what the media wrote
about Anneli's participation, and follow the
url's to read the original reviews (In Norwegian
only):
VG:
Electronica acts usually don't work wery well
under these huge conditions, but Röyksopp
handles it well eventhough we miss a permanent
vocalist. Then it's good to have a guest vocalist
like Anneli Drecker. She's probably one of Norways
most flexible vocalists, and she added a whole
new dimention on the stage. Drecker sang three
songs, including a fantastic version of "Sparks",
which was both catchy, melodious and extremely
dance friendly.

Dagsavisen:
If the show got a little static, this changed
when Anneli Drecker entered the stage with a
hard version of "Sparks". - Do you
recognize this one, shouted Svein Berge. And
the audience cheered when Coldplay's pianodriven
"Clocks" came out of the speakers
in a Röyksopp remix. Torbjørn Brundtland
went crazy on the synth. And Anneli was the
duo's Annie Lennox. It sounded powerful and
magic.

NRK:
The duo got help from a bass player, but even
if the gig was both vivacious and visual, the
trio would have been better served with more
musicians. Anneli Drecker of Bel Canto added
a lot on her songs and made the havey package
loosen up. After Dreckers appearance the evening
got more open and more energetic.

TV2 Nettavisen:
The show got more interesting when Anneli Drecker
entered the stage to contribute with her dreamlike
voice and direct scenic presence.

While waiting for
a new Röyksopp album
During their stay in
Kristiansand, Brundtland and Berge did also
reveal that they have plans releasing a new
album soon. Not with new music, but a collection
of their favourite remixes they have made for
other artists. The list of work they have done
for others include artists like Moby, The Streets,
Peter Gabriel, and next week a new remix of
Coldplay's "Clocks" will be released
on a limited edition 12''. The tracklist is
of Röyksopp's forthcoming remix-collection
is not yet confirmed so we can only cross our
fingers and hope that they also include their
remix of Anneli's "Sexy Love".
