SHIMMERING
WARM & BRIGHT:
ONE OF THE BEST NORWEGIAN ALBUMS EVER
37 music journalists
have voted for the 25 best Norwegian records
ever, and the result is presented in the latest
issue of the magazine Spirit. Of course you
find Bel Canto's "Shimmering, Warm &
Bright" from 1992 on the list, but Anneli
does contribute on two other albums as well.

Bel Canto's best album according to Spirit.

"Shimmering, Warm &
Bright" enters as number 12 on the list.
And Sprit write this about the release:
When Geir Jenssen left
Nils Johansen and Anneli Drecker to focus on
his project Biosphere, some of the cold Arctic
sound who made Bel Canto's two first albums
so special disappeared. But as a duo they become
even more powerful, and concerning the title
of the album the keyword is without doubt "warm".
Bel Canto went east for
inspiration. They used elements of "world
music", but also elements of house music,
rythms and feelings, and sounds that was unique
for the band: Dreckers clear voice, Johansens
pearly guitar and electric violin, a magic athmosphere
even Kate Bush would envy them - If she ever
heard the album, of course.
Norwegian pop has never
been more exotic than what Bel Canto presented
here, and it's a tragedy that a small Belgian
record company which they were signed to ruined
their possibility to lay Europe by their feets.
"Shimmering, Warm & Bright" is
classic and will live on in it's own little
fairytale world.

NORWAY: Spirit presents the 25 best
albums made in Norway - Ever.

As number 5 we find the
double album "Timothy's Monster" (1994)
by Motorpsycho. Anneli does a guest appearance
on the 13 minute long track "Golden Core".
The music is described as rough pop, psychedelia
and majestic rock.
Close to the top we find
Röyksopp's album "Melody A.M."
(2001) only beaten by Turboneger and their "Apocalypse
Dudes" (1998). As you probably know by
now Anneli has co-composed and does the vocals
on the track "Sparks" on Röyksopp's
album.
Other bands on the list
includes a-ha, Biosphere, Dumdum Boys, Those
Norwegians (with Tobrjøn Brundtland)
and many others. Check out the complete list
